Rainbow Rescue is an IRS 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit Organization since 1998 and have helped over 1900 pets find their new loved lifetimes to date. Specialized in small moms & litters or small dogs, we work together and assist all families with all types of breeds/sizes with experienced, informative alternative rescue options. We are a no-kill shelter and all of our pets are spayed/neutered, current shots, medically healthy and micro-chipped. In our dedicated and deeply committed rescue efforts, we partner with city & county animal shelters, various all breed and pure bred dog rescues inclusive of Brittanies, Doxies & Mini Schnauzers in finding their new and equally devoted lifetime, loving families.
Located in the Mojave Desert, heartless humans use California City as a desert dumping ground leaving them completely abandoned and alone pushing them out of vehicles knowing they have very little chance of survival. We have so many pets who somehow survive and find their way to us and help local families and other shelters save as many lives as we can. However, we have extremely limited kenneling facilities or foster homes and have many to help. We specialize in abandoned small dogs, small puppy breeds and small breed moms/litters incurring very high vet care costs keeping them alive & safe while building their immune systems. We also help all dog sizes & breeds saving them from desert death in all aspects inclusive of vet care working with associative medium & large dog rescues & families finding their full loved lifetime resources.
We are devoted to finding full, loved and cared lifetimes for all our pets. If you do not see you pet on our Rainbow Rescue Petfinder or Adopt-A-Pet websites (see our Adoptable Pets tab for link), please also visit our CALIFORNIA CITY ANIMAL SHELTER FACEBOOK PAGEfor more wonderful, adoptable pets hoping to find your love. You will be AMAZED at all the wonderful pure mixed breeds waiting to share your lifetimes. Malteses, German Shephards, Poodles, Labs, Pitts, Chihuahuas, all types of cats/kittens with low adoption costs. OVER 1900 pets are saved from desert death & endless dumping saved by our devoted AC Officers hoping you can help save them and share their love.

If you are looking for help saving or rehome a pet, please review our "Rescue & Spay/Neuter Help" tab which our 15 years of very successful advice and useful information. It is possible to help save your pet within your local resources without losing instant hope when it seems no one returns your calls when you are calling everyone in the world that are too far or do not have resources to help you. Even though we are very limited we do return your calls to help as much as possible even with our known possible or alternative ways. Rescue sites such as Adopt-A-Pet or Rescue Me will allow a private family to place the pet on their search websites. There are no instant answers or resources but it is possible to save your pet with only time, emails, pictures: it can & will happen with your love and as much time to work for them as possible!
Please note: We do not pull from county shelters on requests for many important reasons. WE CANNOT HELP KITTENS OR CATS since we specialize in DOGS ONLY. If you need help pulling a pet from our Lancaster (Los Angeles) Shelter, please coordinate with a rescue other than ourselves approved by Los Angeles County Animal Control to "pull" and work through all the many details to include vet care, funding, boarding and transportation in sufficient time of 7 (recommended) days to save the pets. If you are truly devoted to saving a pet from the Lancaster County or any shelter for that point, we truly recommend you just make the time to come pull the pet yourself. If you knew all the considerations and limitations in this area for beyond too many reasons, you would understand. Plan on an average of 5-7 days especially if planning to transport the pet out-of-state and complete all planning needs to complete.
We urgently need your help in helping them through your fostering, caring love and financial assistance. With your help, we can continue to make so many important and wonderful rich life changes for them helping them find their new lifetimes. Every one of their hearts is so important and needs your love, caring and generosity to make their lives a reality. As a 501 (c) 3 organization, all donations are a charitable donation and tax receipts will be made available.
